The Coastal and Marine Economies Protection Act (H.R. 1941) would prohibit new oil and gas drilling in the Atlantic and Pacific Planning Areas. Parks like Acadia and Channel Islands National Parks, Cumberland Island and Point Reyes National Seashores, and the Statue of Liberty National Monument, would be protected from potential harm and industrialization of expanded offshore drilling. Local communities, millions of annual visitors, and migrating and nesting birds and mammals depend on clean and safe coastlines. A vote in favor of the measure is the pro-parks vote.
